Noida: Strengthening the cultural ties between India and Lesotho goes beyond diplomatic relations, as both nations embrace a rich exchange of traditions and artistic expressions. Dr. Sandeep Marwah, the visionary founder of Noida Film City and President of the Global Festival of Journalism 2023, highlighted how these cultural intersections have fostered mutual understanding and appreciation.
The collaborative efforts have nurtured a platform for people from both countries to delve into diverse art forms, grasp each other’s values, and cultivate a profound respect for their cultural legacies. Thabang Linus Kholumo, Charge d’ Affairs at the High Commission of The Kingdom of Lesotho, illuminated the ceremonial lamp, inaugurating the screening of a captivating Lesotho documentary.
The documentary, masterfully directed by Lehlohonolo Mayeza and produced by Matseliso Mohale of Mohale Media Productions, delves into the essence of the Basotho culture, unraveling the significance behind their traditional practices. The film traces its roots back to Moshoeshoe, the visionary founder of the Basotho Nation.
During the event, Vidisha Baliyan, an accomplished AAFT alumna and Miss Deaf Universe, expressed her gratitude for the abundant opportunities that AAFT provides to students. She acknowledged how platforms like the Global Festival of Journalism have contributed significantly to her personal growth and success.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah, in recognition of the outstanding Lesotho documentary “Basotho Culture,” conferred the esteemed Award of Distinction to Thabang Linus Kholumo. The award was accompanied by a festival memento, accepted on behalf of Matseliso Mohale.
Mehak Zaidi, Assistant Professor at AAFT School of Mass Communication & Journalism, orchestrated the proceedings of the event, while the vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Festival Director. The event garnered support from esteemed organizations including the Asian Unity Alliance, World Peace Development and Research Foundation, AAFT University, and the Indo Lesotho Film and Cultural Forum.
As the documentary screening celebrated the rich cultural tapestry of Lesotho and India, it further solidified the bonds of friendship and understanding between these two nations.
